Hi guys! I'm very excited and SO ready to go to Italy and Germany with everyone. I know I tried to get in touch with people on Facebook, but it was a shoddy attempt. Anyhow, I'll introduce myself.
My name is Kirsten (like K-ear-stin) Ekelund and I turned 19 in May. I go to SUNY Albany, but almost went to SUNY New Paltz. I hated it at first, but it's definitely growing on me. I'm Art History and Anthropology major, not sure where I'm heading with it all yet, though. I'm not the best artist, though I dabble in painting and messing around with Play-Doh. Ever since I was little I've loved archaeology, stories of lost cities, etc, so I'm trying to work archaeology into the grand scheme.
I've been to France twice, and I love all things European. I'm nervous because I don't speak any Italian or German, but I have some trusty pocket dictionaries. One of my Art History teachers told me that Kassel is gorgeous, so I'm pumped to go there. I'm obsessed with museums, and I think I might want to grow up to be a curator, so this trip couldn't come at a better time.
Um, I haven't read up TOO much on the artists that are going to be in the 3 exhibits so I can't really say which ones I'm looking forward to. However, I'm sure that one of my favorite artists in the universe is Gustav Klimt. I have 2 tattoos on my body that come from Klimt paintings, and a third from the shield of a pre-celtic priestess (I LOVE tattoos).
I don't know what else to say except I am REALLY looking forward to being part of such an incredible experience with people I anticipate will be really interesting, fun, and different. And for everyone's information, I might seem shy at first, but when I come out of my shell, I really come out of it!
See you guys real soon!!!!!!!!!
